There are many unexplained wonders in this world, and this one started in 1996 when a young girl from Lebanon was filmed as she cried tears of crystal. Hasnah Mohamed Meselmani was 12 years old at the time, and it seemed a miracle. The girl claimed she could cry as many as seven razor sharp tears in one day, and her eyes were not harmed by them. A journalist named Joe Nickell in 1997 attempted to prove Hasnah’s tears were a fraud by showing that he could place natural quartz crystals in his own eye and duplicate the effect. Hasnah’s affliction, if it could be called that, lasted from March until November of 1996.
We at mouls incorporation official blog site certainly believe that miracles do happen. Supporting our belief is the news that in Saudi Arabia in 2007 a little girl around 5 or 6 years old was shown on video as she went for tests of her eyes and blood. Her family also wanted to find out how and why she had begun crying tears of stone. The video is in Arabic, but if there had been a discovery of the cause there would have surely been an announcement.
In July 2008 another young girl, from a Pakistani village in SWAT, suddenly began crying unusual tears, and these were of black stone. Her name is Almass and she looks to be no more than 12 years old. The video of her crying shows as she cries a stone from each eye, and a collection of the stones her family has kept. The stones ranged from 1 cm to 2 cm each and seemed smooth but otherwise not uniformly shaped. The young girl was taken to doctors to find the cause of the stone tears. As yet no medical diagnosis has been made.
Just this month, December 2011, a little girl in India was also filmed while crying tears of stone. Kura Nitya is just seven years old and she has been crying between 12 to 25 stone tears a day. Kura has claimed that the stones don’t hurt her eyes, but her eyes do get swollen right before she cries the stones. The girl’s grandfather was reported saying that it seemed a miracle to the family at first, but after realizing that the tears were not returning to normal they took the girl to seek medical advice. Several eye specialists were consulted and here again, no root cause could be found. Her tears are being saved to be analyzed in the future, to see if an answer can be found.
It seems that these tears of crystal and stone have something in common, besides afflicting young girls; they are unsolved mysteries. Hopefully someone will discover the cause, just so everyone’s curiosity can be abated. Until then it seems as they will have to remain unexplained phenomena.
